Casey: awesome work and yes I was at the National Narrow Gauge Convention in Houston as that is here I live and then model in the contest room was my Cumbres Station.I ran out of time on the construction of it , that is why there were no name on the ends of the building or the D&RGW Logo. Also I still have some detail work to do on the interior which is the ticket counter that divides the waiting area from the office area. I have photos of the interior of the Osier Section house which is basically the same as the Cumbres section house with the floor plan reversed, so if I do any interior detailing, I will use it as a guide. As far as measurements and detail photos of the Cumbres section house, I have that covered. I spent several hours there last October measureing every window, door, wall and board size and took lots of photos. I will be using my 3 different size of Table saws to cut the materails out of Popular, Ceder and Basswood. The roof will probabbly be Basswood covered with hand cut ceder shingle just like the Cumbres Station, though it wont have the over 5500 hand cut shinges like the Station has. I cut the to scale from ceder venieer sheets I get from a company out of New Jersery. The photos on the wall on the inside of the station are mostly photos of the Cumbres Station over the years along with a couple that I really liked that I through in as well Like the Caboose with the Big Xmas Wreath on the side and a color one of me in my authentic D&RGW Conductors Uniform standing next to two of the Durango and Silverton conductors when my Wife and I took the trip the year before she passed away. The Order board is made out of brass and is to scale based on the patient drawings I got for the patient office for the original. When I get it installed on the Cumbres Pass indoor layout, the arms with be automated using micro servos connected to a Picaxe micro processor.
My Laser Cutter is a small one and has only a 8 x 12" cutting area. But it only cost me $400.00 brand new. It was recommended that I use Corel Draw with the Laser Cutter, but if the software that came with it will accept DXF or DWG files I will use one of my Cad programs to create some of the detail parts and then same them as a dxf file. My machine is a 40 watt machine with a water cooled C02 laser and will cut materails up to 1/4" thick. It is the same machine that Dave Bodnar is using to make control panels for his electronics projects. I think one of the projects I will use the laser cutter for is to cut more of the scale shingles for the section house. It will sure speed up the cutting process.
