Hi,

This talk of bears reminds me of Dunwoody, GA. When Mom and Dad moved us out there in 1968, the area was farmland in the early stages of becoming sub-urban. The grade of the Roswell Railroad was easily seen in many places (narrow gauge).

When Mom died in 2012, the Dunwoody (Atlanta) area was for the nuevo-rich suburban/urban. In about 2010, we had a bear alert - a bear had traveled from the north Georgia Mountains to within a mile or so of her house. The distance from Dunwoody to Atlanta is about 15 miles. The distance from Dunwoody to the farmland in Forsyth, GA is about 20-25 miles.

Wildlife from the "mountains" were always a talking poiint on the local news.

I've not seen a bear there, but I have seen deer, rabbits, 'possums, foxes, and even coyotes. Atlanta (other than downtown - about a 7-10 mile radius) has often been called the city they hide in the trees.
