I think I understood where you were coming from, and I know that you KNOW what we are up against.
We are getting an awful lot of Grand-stand Qurterbacks these days. Most of them don't understand the horrible money constraints that the shop has to overcome.
I think there is one image from this winter that will stick with me for a long time. It's the band saw, and an old axle that is now just a small piece of an old axle.
Because there was no money to buy steel stock, there are pieces of that old axle all over the locomotives.

I think that all of us know that a lot more money COULD solve many problems. But we have seen what 'money without a plan' solves. IMHO there WAS enough money to have at least 3 engines in FRA compliance by now.
