SVRy #250 was the first one converted to oil and to use a tender. She was the test platform for the conversion from tank engine to tender engine. For testing purposes the side tanks were left in place whle the shop crews tested the engines traction with a tender and empty side tanks. When the test proved successful, the side tanks were removed from both #250 and #251.
Here are some photos of the testing of #250 with her side tanks still in place.
