I was to the goat a couple of times when it first started. It did "get my goat". I've never been back.
I do not like the same stuff you are complaining about. It looked like NGDF was starting to become a good site for narrow gauge with the more frequent posts about SV, NCNG, and other narrow gauges without the B.S.
If people will quite taunting and feeling that they have to respond to junque, it would die away very quickly.
I am afraid that if someone would start another NG site, eventually the same B.S. will follow. If you have an idea of how to manage one better, please speak up.
I do not mind a gental ribbing but when 37 new posts occur in a day and only 5-6 of them are NG data and the rest is mostly name calling it does not speak well of all posters (regardless of who started it).
I look at posting here as basically an e-mail type function. I'm sure we all have heard of the stories on the news of people who respond with emotion and then have second thought but the SEND button was already pressed.
If we could harness all the ill will and B.S. on all three boards, I bet we could generate a lot of extra funds for the second century of steam or the NCNG or SPNG or SR&RL or EBT or what ever other NG need is there.
Sorry about getting both on my soap box and lamenting the attitudes expressed both here and at the goat.
