Here's 484 on August 17, 1980 (I had thought that I was there in July, but this is the date on the notes) charging through Coxo with (I presume) Mark Yeamans' homemade hooter.
Also noteworthy besides the whistle is the fact that on this day I was all by myself at Coxo, with no thundering herd to ruin the audio, and the fact that the boxcar consist sounds different on rollby than todays coaches.
Notice the lighter sound of the boxcars, and the PA system wafting through the open car sides.
And, despite my old Walkman not being up to snuff (and no doubt the oxide on this 23 year old tape) 484 sounds darned good chugging along...may she do so again soon (with a more pleasing whistle).
