An often overlooked piece of Rio Grande narrow gauge history is documented in "Hollywood's Railroads, Volume Three: Narrow Gauge Country.” The introductory price of $19.95 will end on January 20th.
This 8.5 by 11 inch, 72-page softcover is printed on heavy enameled paper and covers more than 60 motion pictures made between 1935 and 2014 on the Denver & Rio Grande Western, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge, and Cumbres & Toltec Scenic railroads. The book has 130 photos; 22 of them in color.
This book is part of a new series of eight volumes on the subject. It was published out-of-sequence because it was finished first. "Volume One: Virginia & Truckee" and "Volume Two: Sierra Railroad" will be published this spring. Other narrow gauge favorites like Eureka & Palisade #4, Nevada County Narrow Gauge #5, and the Southern Pacific Owens Valley line will be covered in subsequent volumes. While it is a series of books, each volume is a complete story.
To purchase a copy now, before the suggested retail price becomes $24.95, search "Hollywood's Railroads" on eBay.
