I was fortunate to visit the C&S roundhouse on two occasions--once about 1953 when one of my friend's father drove us down to visit. I recall the shop personnel were very friendly and we had the run of the place. Then on my own in 1956 I visited again but this time had a camera ( [
www.flickr.com] ) and took pictures--there was still a lot of steam and that day one engine was hot. We used to hitch rides on the local C&S freight behind steam that ran out our way in University Park and the crew let us ride in the cupola. This was pretty exciting stuff for 11 and 12 year olds.
