Regarding paint and body:
I did ask the Friends awhile ago if I could could lead a special session to scrape and paint OY. The answer was yes. However I'm sure if we ask Ed and John about a regular session for 2015 now, we might get a favorable response. Who would be interested in coming to Chama for a work session to help? In a week I think if enough signed up we could get it done. I could be at E session for 2015 to do a scrape/paint. There are some siding pieces that do need to be replaced too.
I also asked "about how much paint/cost to do OY?". The answer was $500.00 for primer and about $500.00 for the paint. So who would be interested in a special donation to help fund the project?
The big question: how should it be lettered? I'm sure everyone would like the Rio Grande on it but having OY plowing is an excellent opportunity for promotion of the C&T. There would be nothing better to see on national TV but OY with Cumbres and Toltec on it. Seeing the only functional coal fired, steam rotary in the USA is a big deal. Steam and flying snow!
To make a successful OY run happen a lot of volunteer work would be needed. Not just paint/scrape/fit siding either.
