More information is contained in the book _Oregon-American Lumber Company - Aint No More_, by Kamholz, Blain and Kamholz, Stanford, California: Stanford University Press, 2003. The book is largely based on records of the Oregon - American Lumber Co now held by the University of Oregon.

See pp. 17 - 33 for coverage of the Eccles interests involvement in developing what became O-A. The Portland Astoria & Pacific was incorporated in 1919, built from Wilkesboro to Vernonia. In 1921 some of the Eccles properties were sold - Oregon - American and PA&P were acquired by Central Coal & Coke, which did not want to be in the common carrier business. The PA&P was sold to the SP&S on December 7, 1921.

P. 29 specifically notes that O-A absorbed $2.2 million construction debts from the PA&P along with the three locomotives the Eccles had ordered.

P. 341. Equipment Roster, Rod Locomotives. Lists ALCO built 2-8-2s Nos. 100, 101, 102. Builder nos. 61857, 61858 and 61859. Identical specs - 48" drivers, 20" x 28" cylinders, 180# boiler pressure. 1,800 gals fuel oil, 5,000 gals water. Ordered by PA&P in 1920, delivered to Vancouver, Washington.

No. 100 was rented to the SP&S briefly; sold to Weed Lumber Co, Weed, Calif as WLC 100 by 1926. Sold to Yreka Western as YW 100 in 1955, scrapped 1955.

No. 101 was not paid for, and was re-sold to the Minarets & Western at Fresno, California in 1922 as M&W 101. Sold to SP in 1932 (SP acting as equipment broker), resold in 1936 to Aberdeen & Rockfish, Aberdeen, NC. Converted to burn soft coal on A&R. A&R retired No. 40, but stored it inside, later sold the locomotive to the Valley Railway in 1977 In service at Valley Railway, Essex Connecticut.

No. 102 was sold through the Vancouver Equipment Co to Albierni Pacific, on Vancouver Island. Became Canadian Forests Limited No. 113, based out of Woss Camp, on Vancouver Island. Was steamed occasionally in the 1980s and 1990s. Believed stored - can anyone provide an update?

Summary - two of the three survive, one in service. Similar ALCO 2-8-2s were built for the Copper River & Northwestern.
