Gunnison engine and train crews seniority district was between Gunnison and Grand Junction. When Gunnison jobs were eliminated they moved west to Montrose, Delta, Grand Junction. Some of them then were able to bid in runs on the main line.
From time to time, when not enough crews were available at Gunnison, former NG crews were deadheaded to Gunnison from Grand Junction for trains on the branches or west out of Gunnison. These crews still held rights for the Gunnison territory.
Of interest, for the 1949 period that I am posting, it was noted that conductor Trevarthen moved from Salida to Gunnison. Apparently his original seniority territory was Gunnison-Grand Junction and being unable to keep his narrow gauge run out of Salida placed himself at Montrose.
