Bruce. Thats correct...There were three 1200 series Class A 2-6-6-4's at the Dow Chemical plant in South Charleston, WV(this isn't even N&W country, its C&O), and they were used as stationary boilers for a few years. Steamtown founder Nelson Blount went down there, and was allowed to purchase one of them. He chose the 1218 as being in the best shape, and it was moved to Steamtown in Vermont either in the 60's or early 70's. Then N&W/NS got ahold of it, restored it in 1986-7 and it ran until 1991, and now back in the VMT in Roanoke on display after the NS Program shut down in 1994. The other engines in Charleston were apparently scrapped.
