I do remember it well. Funny how reality can intrude on our finest moments of glory.
I have also developed the habit of making the whistle signal as short as is appropriate for the situation. I will admit in my case it has to do with not over stressing my already abused hearing.
In the early 1970s ear plugs and PPE in general were frowned on by the old heads we learned from. Several years went by before we all learned protecting our eyes, hearing, and hands was more important than looking "cool".
