Hello Grant, Thank you for your honesty and interest. I may have come off a bit strong in my response. If I did, please accept my apology. I am quite tired and a bit gun-shy and frustrated by Creede's negativity. Not everyone in Creede agrees with the vocal minority. A few prominent people in power stirred up a hornets nest and tried to prevent us from coming into Creede. So far, they have failed. Regarding the C&TS, I hope all of you realize that we are First, a historical foundation named after the D&RG, with a mission of preserving as much of the D&RG(W) as financially possible. We have the utmost respect for the folks in both Antonito as well as Chama. We don't believe we will draw riders away from Antonito, nor damage the C&TS in any way. We will do our best to raise the level of awareness to railroading in the San Luis Valley as a whole. Please remember that the Town of South Fork is very supportive and excited by our presence as is Del Norte, Monte Vista and Alamosa. If we can keep tourists in the Valley longer, everyone prospers, including the C&TS. By the way, we closed on the Creede Branch line purchase late yesterday. The D&RG lives!! Our sincere thanks to the Union Pacific. They were terrific to work with.
