You are right on target. Colorado already is blessed with just about more trains to ride than any other state.
In addition to all the tourist lines let's not forget that it also has two of Amtrak's premire long distance trains passing through.
I think from an emotional standpoint we would all love to see service on the Creede Branch.
From a practical standpoint, I just don't see the income there to justify the expense.
Also, I keep hearing that the line will use the 169, but even if that is so, it can't possibly protect every movement, thus another ng locomotive will be needed.
Most owners of ng locomotives are pretty jealous of them, so where would one come from?
I doubt that even the D&S would part with a 490 to help yet another competing train ride get off the ground.
It's time to start thinking of it as "The South Fork Branch".
