Figure the couplers on the idlers/dual gauge coupler equipped engines and the connecting narrow gauge cars would take a lateral hit if the narrow gauge cars in the consist were suddenly centered up. I tend to agree that a basically standard gauge bridge could handle the off-center narrow gauge traffic but I would not be surprised to discover a support beam under all three rails.
