It's hard to top real circus colors if you want to attract a crowd: Tuscan red cab and stripes on the the tender, brass handrails and cylinder jackets, bright red counterweights and - oh yeah - a Dark Olive Green boiler jacket ...
IMHO, I think Michael Allen (above), and Dick Cowles & John West (below) have hit the nail squarely on the head. Clearly, although #463 is an important part of the C&TS secondary mission of historic preservation and interpretation, returning her to operation is not necessary for the survival of the railroad. In spite of this, a great deal of effort by a good many people is going into the rebuild. Our glass is way more than half full on this one, and we all should be very grateful to everyone involved for all their hard work - and thick skins.

OTOH, if you have PERSONALLY witnessed or been involved with a problem or potential problem, IMHO you owe it to your fellow NGDF'ers to point it out so that the situation can be improved or avoided in the future.
