I had one of the ugly as Southpark's belly button model A's which tried to throw a rod. Actually is was a 1 1/2 ton AA truck, with a 6.something to one rear end so 35 MPH really had the old engine wound up. At around 40 which I only tried once, the blow by from the crankcase coated the drivers side running board with oil as that is the side of the block the crankcase breather is on. Well unlike the Pierce apparently Ford's Vanadium alloy parts were a lot tougher. One side of a rod cap broke next to the bolt and it began to clatter. I proceeded into town at minimum speed and parked it in my parents driveway, dropped the pan and the cap had deflect away from the journal, but not let go. I got another cap from a friend, adjusted the shims accordingly and it worked fine.
