Re: D&S RR blamed for wildfire near Durango

Our last ride years ago was on the 2nd morning train in the Parlor Car. Half way to Silverton, the patrol speeder disappeared, and I thought oh boy! We were behind 480( memory lapse?), and we found out later it's ashpan aparently was dropping cinders. On the return trip, there were slow orders with considerable smoke everywhere. Off the back platform, I have a picture of a chopper dropping water some 500 yds. ahead of us. Because we had a fire escort, it didn't get ahead of the fire crews.
