Corn stalks end up as supplemental animal feed ie the stalks are cut long
and grazed. Energy input on the process of which I'm involved is low and
while the BTU content is somewhat chemically enhanced it's still positive
Just as an FYI, ethanol energy out vs in is many magnitudes greater than
when the process started. Plus, the DDG market is gone bonkers including
a sizable amount going to export as pellets. The byproduct is worth more
than the raw corn, the ethanol has gotten pretty cheap.
