We currently have more forest than ever, trees are routinely grown as a
crop and you can make "biocoal" from things other than "trees". I just
did a hydraulic system for a company that's R&D'ing the use of corn stalks
as "biocoal". This isn't the 1850's and we've learned from out past rather
inefficient practices.
