The plow on the 484/484 does not go "over the pilot". It uses the standard pilot beam for mounting. The pilot cage itself, along with the steps must be removed. It is a less permanent situation than the plow on 487 which uses a wooden beam to replace the pilot beam. In either case the removal/application of the plow is a bit of an ordeal as one literally jacks the plow up on blocks and runs the engine into/or out of the plow to take it on and off.

484 got the plow last winter for the Xmas trains as 488 and 487 were not available.
