Tim,
I had always wondered about the roof as well, and now that I went back and looked at the picture, I'm pretty sure it actually isn't of our tank. The tower looks too short to be ours, so it's probably just one of the tanks around Bates. But that brings up the argument of the fact that the tank at McEwen is pretty large, while most of the logging tanks are pretty titchy. An exception to this is the tower sitting in Sumpter. It was pulled out of the woods not long ago, but I can't remeber where. It's of very similiar construction to the Bates tank, and if we can find out where it came from, it may be the key to the secret. Hmmmm, I wonder if Jim knows where it came from? Anyway, a tank the size of the one at McEwen is more standard for a mainline with larger engines, than the spurs and loggers with smaller equipment.
Talk to You Soon, Taylor
BTW, What ever happened to all the Sumpter Valley octagon tanks?
