This goes out to all who can help answer or point me in the right direction.
Reading through vol. 12 of the RGS Story, I read that the "Alamosa" was leasted to the RGS. While there, it was wrecked and "destroyed".
This brings me to my questions:
1. If this is true, what is the history of the "Alamosa" to day. I see it listed as being built pryor to the "destroyed" date.
2. I also have this notion that the Alamosa, Chama and the Durango were all the same. As well as the reason that the Alamosa went to the RGS was it was not needed or in use at that time on the D&RGW.
3. Also, it appears to me that the Alamosa and Chama were of the same floor plan,as well as the numbering sequence matches. But the Durango appears to have a few differences, as well as the numbering makes me wander if it was converted from another type of car.
4. Since I am on a roll, how was it then that the Durango and Chama went to Knott's, since most of that equipment seemed to have RGS conections (its my understanding that the 340 was being leasted frequently when motive power break downs occured).
5. Lastly, why was Chama rebuilt to the "Calico". Just an extra?
I realize that this wound up rambling so thanks in advance.
