this post, ozinoz explained why it was difficult for him to commit to attending the C&TS 40th Anniversary without first knowing whether or not Lobato bridge will be back in service.
While none of us here can guarantee that Lobato bridge will be open by the C&TS 40th Celebration, we are quite capable of dreaming up reasons why he should still attend... so let's have a thread full of those reasons -- I'll go first!
If Chama side trains are still originating at Cumbres instead of Chama, that means a few things:
(1) New Runby Timings & Locations - photo trains would be two hours east of where they would be had they originated at Chama; therefore, entirely new photographic opportunites open up for us photographers. Imagine being able to get early morning light shots at or around Osier! There would also be more time for photo stops since the train would be covering less ground.
(2) Night photos at Cumbres Pass -- if the trains are overnighting at Cumbres, we can have night photos there! (Whadda say, Michael Ripley?)
(3) Unobstructed use of Chama yard - If there is no regular train to turn in Chama, then the entire yard can be used for photo runbys. Imagine what could be done there in the great late afternoon light!
Other reasons?
