I agree with your points 100%.
Mine is a bit of an emotional attachment. 750 was the Atlanta Chapter loco for many years and I helped in High School and College (1971-1974) riding many miles behind her. At the turning point, I would go up and help refuel her ("cut coal" a couple of times) and many times held fire hoses to water the beast.
I"ll take anything they'll run but 750 is special to me. Just like D&RGW 478 is special since it was the only D&RGW loco I ever road behind (1972). All other mikes were ex-D&RGW.
I'd also love to see PRR 1361 in steam.
