Re: C&TS interim trains - Ideas

They could begin building a load on spur at Dalton tomorrow or just jack the main track up north of the crossing so Soni could back the K-36 up against the raised track to unload. Then build a bus transfer platform and be back in business. The C&TS has much more experience than most tourist railroad for trucking equipment in and out. Do it!

The bus travel would only be 6.45 miles and the train could lay at Cresco after its run and using a night time hostler crew, they would back the evening arrival at Dalton up to Cresco and tie down the train till morning, deadhead to Cumbres to service the engine and turn on the wye and back down to Cresco and then ready the train at Dalton for the road crew in the morning. The train would continue to Antonito for regular engine house service and the two trains could handle the business as they normally do, but without six miles of travel. Only expense would be the bus and two men for night time hostler and deadhead movement, minus the night hostler at Chama. Cresco would be the night time lay-over point with only a short back up move to locate the train at Dalton crossing for the busses transfer.
