Chili John; I can believe the Indians were not
very receptive to saving the train. I remember on the Rocky Club trips we would see men who I assumed were Indians, standing on their front porch shaking their fist at the train. I can
understand some of their concern as I heard someone say that a train making a herd run could run off a ton of beef in a hurry. And all it took to get them running was a few toots on the whistle.
"Jonesy", the Special Agent, said that nothing improved the value of a cow like crossing it with a locomotive. So, liability no doubt was a consideration in the RR's decision to abandon
the line.
