Even Roger can be personable.
O-K, Bill - don't get TOO carried away! Roger is, after all, one of the original Curmudgeons!

p.s. One of my favorite spots is at approximately milepost 333.7 - about 2.5 miles up the hill from Cresco Tank. It's a fairly easy 1/4 mile hike from the highway down to the top of a wide meadow on the northwest side of the track that offers many different angles and views of the train - see [
ngdiscussion.net]. If you don't mind hiking farther, you can drop down and cross the tracks to get some good shots from the sunny side at grade level, but then it takes so long to get back to your car that you'll be lucky to get up to Cumbres before the train heads on east.
