Just a quick reply on this thread. If you have never chased the 4% to Cumbres that makes a difference. You may want to get as many shots as possible. For me, I try to avoid 3 locations(all three crossings). There are too many people usually at each crossing, plus the lighting at the second and third crossings is usually terrible by this time of the day with high sun. If Roger is willing to take you under his wing I would suggest taking his advice. Also suggest staying the extra morning to shoot the train up the hill and then depart when it gets to Cumbres. This way you can shoot different spots, and the chase to Cumbres takes about an hour an a half, then you can depart for wherever you are going next.
Have fun, and enjoy the stack talk on Cumbres....its about the best show around for that, although I have not been around the 18 out of Alamosa yet which likely is a good thrash as well.
