My wife and I are planning a late-September trip up to NG country. One of the things I really want to do is drive over Marshall Pass. Can some of you seasoned vets give me an idea of what the road conditions might be like at that time of year?
The plan is to drive over from Mears Jct to Sargents, but I haven't made this trip yet and don't really know what to expect. How long should it take? 5-6 hours?
I'll most likely be driving a Ford F150 2WD.
We're also planning to drive up to the west side of Alpine Tunnel the following day. But, for that trip I'm thinking of renting a Jeep or something else smaller than my truck. Any thoughts?
*On a related note: what is the typical peak of the Aspens changing colors? I've heard it's around the last week in September and the first week of October.
Thanks.
