In Colorado some of the newspapers did a great job of reporting the D&RGW (and other lines). Some even had a regular railroad column. The Alamosa paper had a shop notes column for a while. But some papers wouldn't report the railroad if an engine blew up in front of the depot. The editors of some were left-wing radical union supporters who hated corporate America and condsidered the railroad to be the devil (sounds like some newspapers today eh?).
