Dang ,John , I was just about to put away my timetables ...! Timetable 87(1909) indicates wyes at Antonito, Tres Piedras ,Barranca(top of barranca Hill), turntable at Embudo , and a wye at Santa Fe. Timetabe 119(1932)indicates a wye at Taos Junction ,for turning engines for the La Madera Branch(1914-1932).Timetable 121(1939) indicates all of the turning facilities were still in place ,though the turntable at Embudo was removed in the spring of 1940 . The wye at Tres Piedras was for turning helpers for northbound (eastbound by timetable) trains up the grade over Volcano Hill ,as well as snow trains . There isa photo in Dorman's latest book of the OY being turned there . I remember you saying something about the wye up on top of the hill at Volcano .It may be indicated in an earlier timetable than what I have . I am presently working on two commissions ,back to back, of both a northbound and southbound train out of Embudo . Wistful , lonely Embudo will always be one of my favorite places on the old Narrow Gauge .
