I did some research in the courthouse this morning and according to the Sanborn Insurance maps in the County Assessor's office, the large building with the smokestacks was:
1886--Duyckinck & Schuyler Ore Sampling Works
1890--Duyckinck & Co. Ore Sampling Works
1895--Wm. Kieth's Ore Sampling Works
It had a storage room shed, crusher room, engine house (smoke stacks) platforms and a note that 2 men slept in the office. The track originally stopped at the sampling works, was later extended to the SG&N engine house.
There is no information on any railroad property to speak of since the State Board of Equalization handles all public utility assessments since statehood, and a division of the Board of Equalization handles that task today. Interesting comment from the assessor is that the D&S to this day is in arrears on filing their returns and incurs penalities and interest on each year's returns. There was a listing in one of the ledgers on the D&RG's holdings in Elk Park that included 2 priveys, a boarding house, round house and water tank--all of which was new to me--from about 1895.
