The trainorders varied with regard to specifying helper and road engine. In some cases they were very specific, as in "Eng 488 run extra Chama to Durango. Eng 480 help extra 488 west Chama to Azotea then run extra Azotea to Gato....etc." Others would simply say "Engs 481 and 486 run as 1 extra Chama to Cumbres and as 2 extras Cumbres to Alamosa..." or "Engs 492-484 coupled run extra....". The later lack of specificity seems more common from the sample of orders I have.
