The date on the derailment for Extra 483-494 Coupled West was September 27, 1958, location was Bocea Hill.
Which river or railroad track scene are you refering to? From the Durango yard for a short distance the track did parallel the Animos River to Carbon Junction. Eastward on the line to Chama the grade began going up. It passed the KIUP Radio station, across the hiway and comtinued upward. This location just described is now where the Wal-Mart Super Store stands.
Very few placed on the Farmington Branch where the river and railroad were next to each other. Don't recall ever seeing a double header Westbound to Aztec or Farmington, there was no grade to require one.
