Thank You Scott, Rich, Jerry & Christian et al -
You are a wealth of valuable information, and much appreciated!
As I'm really just a beginning user of PhotoShop, there is a LOT for me still to learn about image sizes and resizing/enlarging, in addition to all of the color correction issues, etc.
Having just re-read the article Rich posted on high-end digital photography (as of 2½ years ago), I'm thinking perhaps the best combination for my budget and interests (steam locomotives - and usually in motion) might be a (used) Mamiya 645 digital camera with a (used?) P25 back, but it's hard to justify even that for hobby use. Certainly anything above that - like a P45 - is not justified by my limited skill level on the finishing end, even if I could afford one (and the lenses needed to get full benefit.)
On the other hand - with E&P #4 out and about again, #315 running from time to time, #463 due next year and #20 in 2011 or 2012 - maybe it IS about time to upgrade. And next year IS the C&TS 40th Anniversary, after all ...
Thanks again!!
- Russ
