Here's an interesting question that hopefully one of the long time residents (or used to be resident a while ago) of the Durango Colorado area can fill me in on.
I added an oil loading dock similar to the Chama prototype on our outdoor layout. Here's a photo:
It's a great structure and I was thinking a period tanker truck might look nice parked near it.
This model caught my eye as I really like the styling of it (1951 Ford):
The Pennzoil paint would have to go though. I was thinking maybe a drab brown or reddish color might look nice.
If I'm going to repaint it, then I could also add my own decals. What oil companies where in the area of the D&RGW narrow gauge line to Durango? I know Connoco was, as there was a pump at the old Gomez store. And since we've lived in Durango it seems Texaco was the largest oil company in town...that is until they merged.
Do any of you have suggestions on what to repaint the Pennzoil tanker truck into? Should I forget about a name and just repaint it a solid color?
If you were going to repaint this model truck, what color/colors would you choose?
Thanks
Matt
