Somewhere in a book or Narrow Gauge News was an accounting of either Lively or Norwood who went to the rescue of an engine crew near Osier and walked from Cumbres with snowshoes. He tripped on something, and it was the telegraph line en route. Also he had to crawl on his hands and knees across Cascade trestle.
I think that story should go in any historical account of Cumbres, especially winter operations. Others here will know the story I am talking about. Its one of my favorite true accounts of railroading on the line!
