Earl is busy out running trains, so let me utilize some of his material to anwser your question. In May 1968 I chased 476 and 478 from Alamosa to Durango. The previous winter was the last that routine work on the 470's was done at Alamosa on the 470's. It also happened to be the last revenue DRGW freight that I ever saw.
But according to Earl's records it was not quite the last visit of a 470 to the Alamosa shop. In October, after some movie work, the 473 deadheaded to Alamosa for some repairs in the backshop (removal of grease paint?). On December 5,1968 the last narrow guage train ever departed Alamosa behind freshly shopped 473. So the last shop work on a 470 (or any other ng. locomotive) in Alamosa was in the fall of of 1968.
