Mike, the 473 and 483 doubleheaded out of Alamosa 12/5/68. That was the last narrow gauge powered westbound move ever out of Alamosa. The train tied-up at Chama that night and then on 12/6 the 473 continued on to Durango with the 481 midtrain in tow, the 483 returned to Alamosa. The 473 has been "landlocked" in Durango ever since.
The 476 and 478 left Alamosa for the last time in the Spring of 1968 (late April I believe) after having been overhauled.
There was no movement over the line that I know of in 1969 other than a couple of bootlegged motor car rides. The next train to move over the line was when the epuipment was delivered to the States and the volunteers fired up the 483 once again.
