One issue I have personally seen is that if a curve is widened excessively the first problem that crops up is with short wheelbase equipment such a a motor car. They end up dropping onto the ground, while normal full size equipment can pass over the area all day long. As I recall some years back a short bit of track at McEwen on the SVRy ended up a little wide from being spread by the 19. It is a curve that is laid too tight for the 19 so is normally off limits for it. The result was one of the industrial engines, either the 110 or the 118 went on the ground. I think that besides the short wheel base, some of the industrial wheels may have a narrower face width making this sort of a problem more of an issue.
