You Know, George,
You have hit the nail on the head.
After over 30 years of Railroading, Railroaders are possibly the most Politically Incorrect people that I've ever met. This is in spite of company warnings about their "EEO" officers (read PC Police). We still like to call a spade a spade and cut through all of the boilerplate BS that society has thrown at us.
Personally, I could give a damn as to what people think of my opinions, especially regarding what I see as upgrades and improvements to the C&TS or EBT and the Icarus-like downward spiral of the Loop.
In my opinion, this board was set up as a discussion forum, not a group hug or a Kum-By-Ya circle jerk. If we can't disagree then we can't discuss. If some toes get stepped on or someone gets offended, then so be it. It happens when people disagree. Grow up, get over it and go on.
That's life boys. If you lose your point in the Board Room, nobody sends you flowers or wine or congratulations, you just get thumped. If you feel that somebody doesn't like your opinion, so what? Is your world going to come to an end? Is your computer going to blow up?
It's just electrons, and this board is (or was) for discussion. So don't take it so damned seriously.
The only way that folks will (or should) think less of you is if you DON'T have an opinion.
That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, I don't particularly care.
PI (Politically Incorrect) as always....
Rick
