Not that I would think anyone might care why I post so little here or anywhere else anymore, but it's precisely because of too many pointless and inane threads like this one.
I was involved daily in the NGDF for years, and as anyone else who has been can attest, this kind of board cannot be "regulated" or controlled by anyone. Nor, should it be. The NGDF simply reflects the discussion of those who are interested in what is being discussed.
But I have no interest in discussing conduct, discussions and arguements that have always been found on forums of this kind. No interest at all. I don't care if somebody is mad or feels like they have been slighted or have to have the last word in a fight over tender logos or what fits "their" particular historical context. It is a complete and total waste of time to me, but for some others, it seems to be an endless topic of amusement.
I still poke my head in here to see what's going on, because it still seems to work for me. I have no interest in looking for another site that might have enforced manners and nanny moderators. I'm already grown, and I am what I am. I expect others to behave in kind. If they don't, I don't waste my time.
If I see something interesting to which I can offer something constructive, or if I have some news or other that might be of interest to someone, I'll post. If not, I've got plenty of other things to do.
Judging from the lack of recent posts by so many other formerly frequent contributors, this view seems to be pretty widely shared.
This is the NGDF, and if it's going to be something that requires specific conduct, then it should be the RNGDF (R for "Regulated") and I'm not interested.
But that last sentence doesn't matter, because it can't be regulated. Soon, cabin fever will take hold again, and there will be the usual arguments over the Loop and what colors the C&TS will paint the coaches.
