George, so it's time for the old "Colorado taxpayer" wheeze is it? That's pretty funny. Are you aware that over the past ten fiscal years Colorado has fallen a total of $2.7 million behind NM in appropriations for the C&TS? According to the treaty compact between the two states both are supposed to contribute equal amounts.
Did you know that Colorado made NO capital appropriations for the C&TS for this current fiscal year (NM did $1 million for track)? Instead, Colorado did appropriate money for the Georgetown Loop. So how does it feel as a "Colorado taxpayer" to know that you have done your part to support the CHS's efforts at "historical preservation" of the Loop, but when it comes to the C&TS, you and the rest of Colorado are deadbeats? Doesn't that bother you just a bit?
As for the truly ugly trim job on 489, have you contacted the Commission and complained? After all, the Commission is the party ultimately accountable. Or do you prefer to just ventilate on discussion boards? For me, I'd rather give the shop crew an opportunity to get a little black paint out this winter and tone things down. Maybe you could contact GM Soni Honigger and offer to stop down and dab a little paint yourself. Antonito can't be that long a trip for you.
Yes, a little volunteerism on the C&TS might be just the thing for you. Might even give you a chance to have some fun in the "Friends playground." You do play well with others; don't you?
