2) IIRC, I have never resorted to an attorney except when necessary to defend myself from one.
(And would probably break any mirror into which I looked.)
3) The fact remains that the U.S. - with about 5% of the whirled's population (or less) has about 70% of the whirled's lawyers - a sad confirmation of the truth of your third paragraph, and of my previous statement that a large part of the problem is the current tendency to blame others rather than taking responsibility for one's own actions. This is a major reason why lawyers are so busy, why so many are attracted to the profession, and why liability insurance and fantrip tickets are so expensive.
