As alluded to in another thread, I haven't been particularly active or curmudgeonly of late. Here's a good opportunity to fix that.
People love to have someone else to blame, thus this almost universal sentiment about lawyers. It's far easier to scapegoat people like politicians and attorneys for a whole host of problems than it is to look inwardly and see how each of us contributes.
Funny thing... You can't litigate without plaintiffs. A lawyer is just a facilitator. Are there excesses and issues? Sure. One look at the state of "class action" suits in the US is enough to convince you of that. But the fundamental problem remains the individual who professes to hate lawyers but runs to one the instant they think they can get something from someone with deep pockets.
