They'd attach a longer hose to it and use the steam to 1) thaw a frozen valve in a water tank (shove the hose up the feed pipe and turn the steam on), 2) melt the ice from frozen switch points and frogs and, at least once, thaw the ice from around the wheels of the 461 in front of the Rico enginehouse!
