Amen to that! Those are classic little examples of the wooden carbuilder's art and their preservation is essential to the narrow gauge scene. One of my favorite recordings of all time is of a photo freight in 1992. 497 is pulling it's twelve freight cars and caboose off the Big Horn Wye, very slowly on that light rail, and the squeaking, creaking, clanking, flange squealing rattle of those marvelous little wooden freight cars is a symphony of history. There is no other sound like a wooden framed freight car. I think that's just one of the reasons I used to like riding in the old box car coaches, just leaning out the window and listening to the rattle and the clank and the squeal of those great cars as they rolled along through Sublette and Big Horn.
Thanks again for keeping that alive! The vendor may work on engines but it's the friends who keep the cars going!
