Geeze Jerry. I think we see eye to eye here. The final narrow gauge route, the San Juan extension had outlived its' usefulness, as profits dwindled to minus numbers, allbeit most of the losses created to make abandonmont look like the only choice that made sense. I'm sure that D&RGW made the correct choice of selling Antonito to Chama and associated equipment at a better deal than just scrapping the whole works would have cost. Should corporate America be chastised for putting profits above sentiment? Naw, Sentiment holds no meaning in corporate America. I'm sure the D&RGW guys did their due dilligence before presenting their case to the ICC. And I hardly see them as the 'bad guys'. Yeah, if I was looking for Corporate D&RGW to have a heart or at least some compassion, that is not written into their modus operandi, profits drive everything. That is just the way it is, and those who can't accept that are left behind, and those who do accept it, live happily ever after.
